Player Assessments
February
Players in Minor and Major Divisions are assessed in February to help with correct division and team placement for the upcoming spring season. Any Rookies who want to play-up at the Minor level are also assessed at this time.
Jamboree for Minors & Majors
Meet & Greet for T-Ball
Late March/Early April
Players in Minor and Major Divisions meet up for a friendly Jamboree to refresh their skills and play scrimmages in preparation for the start of the official spring baseball season. Meanwhile, T-Ball players and their families get together for an introductory Meet & Greet.
Umpire Training
Late March/Early April
Training session(s) are often held in early spring for new and returning umpires. Players who are, or will soon be, at least 11 years old are invited to serve as umpires at our games and tournaments. See our umpire compensation page to find out what our league pays umpires.
Clinics for Coaches & Scorekeepers
Early April
Training session(s) are organized by NWBA in early spring, on an as-needed basis, for new and returning coaches and parent volunteer scorekeepers. Also see our coaches and scorekeeping pages for more info on those roles.
Opening Ceremonies
Early April
A fun event that gets the whole New West Little League together at Queen’s Park Stadium to celebrate the start of the spring baseball season.
Photo Day
Early April
A professional photographer is on hand in early April to capture a keepsake for coaches, players and their teammates to remember their baseball season.
Fundraising Events
April to June
Keep your eye out for league-organized fundraising events such as bottle drives and pub nights to help raise funds for our programs!
Division Practices and Games
April to June
Throughout the spring season, players develop age-appropriate baseball and teamwork skills while having fun at in-league practices and games. Minor and Major division players also play games against other District 6 leagues’ teams, as well as against teams from other neighbouring districts. See our divisions pages for more information.
Division Tournaments
May
Rookie, Minor, and Major players showcase their developing baseball skills and teamwork at exciting division tournaments NWBA hosts throughout the month of May. See our tournaments page for more information. T-Ball families are welcome to come out to cheer on the big kids!
Our May tournaments are also a great time for our Little League families to get in their league volunteering hours. We appreciate your help! đŸ™‚
All-Stars Tryouts
May
Rookie, Minor, and Major players may be eligible for additional play on competitive teams in the summer. Tryout sessions for our coach-selected All-Stars teams occur in May. See our All-Stars page for more information.
Rally Cap Day
June
Towards the end of the spring season, T-Ball and Rookie players are encouraged to attend a Baseball Canada Rally Cap skills assessment and evaluation event, run by our coaches with the assistance of our older division players. Players in attendance will get a report card documenting each skill level achieved and a new baseball hat for participating.
Closing Ceremonies
June
The whole league assembles again in June to wrap up the spring baseball season at our Closing Ceremonies. All New West Little League players get a participation medal!
The Closing Ceremonies also typically coincide with “Diamondsides Baseball Day”–a fun afternoon for our Little League players of carnival games, coach dunk tank, and a coaches vs U18 baseball game at Queen’s Park Stadium–held by our affiliate, NWMBA’s Diamondsides.

T-Ball Jamboree
June
Coach-selected Rookie, Minor and Major players participate on competitive teams in games and tournaments in early to mid-summer. See our All-Stars page for more information. Meanwhile, T-Ball players can participate in the District 6 Jamboree.
Fall Ball
September & October
Players in Rookie, Minor and Major Divisions can continue to develop age-appropriate baseball and teamwork skills while having fun at in-league practices and games (younger divisions) or interlock games (older divisions), scheduled up to the end of October, weather-permitting.
Winter Training Clinics
November & December
January to mid-March
Players in Rookie, Minor and Major Divisions can further develop age-appropriate baseball and teamwork skills at indoor training clinics offered during the winter months.
