NWBA is a volunteer-run organization. Parent participation is vital to ensuring that the baseball program is successful and registration fees are kept reasonable.

Upon registration, parents automatically become members of NWBA, and have a responsibility to volunteer their time to help ensure that our league runs smoothly.

Although game responsibilities vary slightly for each division, every family in our membership, particularly during our busy Spring Season, is expected to fulfill their volunteer commitment to:

1.    their child’s team (by volunteering at their child’s games),
2.    AND to our league (as a board member, coach, coordinator, event organizer, or event support volunteer)

For the 2025 Spring Season, each NWBA family is required to:

Please note that the Volunteer Fee Deposit/Volunteer Buy Out is required per family, and not per participant.

During the online registration process for the 2025 Spring Season, parents will be required to indicate their willingness to volunteer in the following positions:

Each Team Parent, in conjunction with their team’s Team Manager, has the authority to decide what method of assigning duties works best for their team. Team-level volunteering is expected of ALL NWBA families, including those who opt to pay the Buy Out.

All families who do not pay the Volunteer Buy Out will be required at the start of the 2025 Spring Season to supply a cheque to the Team Parent of your oldest child’s team in the amount of $100 (T-Ball) or $200 (Rookie, Minor & Major), made payable to NWBA and post-dated to July 15, 2025 with “Volunteer Fee” and your child’s/children’s name(s) in the memo line. This cheque will serve as your family’s 2025 Spring Volunteer Fee Deposit. It will either be returned to you or deposited by NWBA at the end of the season, depending on whether or not your family’s team-level AND league-level volunteering commitment is satisfied for the 2025 Spring Season.

**Please keep the following upcoming league-wide events and division tournaments in mind as opportunities for your family to fulfill your league-level volunteering commitment. Be on the lookout for updates with more details about these events (on our NWBA website/social media accounts and/or in league emails and TeamSnap messages).

Duties at league-wide events, such as tournaments, can include:

  • doing field prep
  • scorekeeping
  • managing the scoreboard
  • being an announcer during tournament games
  • helping to run the concession
  • selling league merchandise
  • assisting our coordinators with tasks at the league’s Opening Ceremonies, Closing Ceremonies, or Picture Day

Most of these tasks are pretty straightforward, even for newcomers–and board members or coordinators will happily give you some instructions if you are unfamiliar with a task. Please see our Parent Volunteer Roles page for more information about the roles that parents can take on at both the team level and the league level.

As a great way to support our league and to meet your league-level volunteer commitment, we encourage you to consider joining our board right now in one of the many board roles we still have vacant! 🙂

Please contact the NWBA Volunteer Coordinator if you have any questions about parent volunteer roles.
