DescriptionThis is the top level in Little League, focusing on skill execution and understanding situational strategies. All coaches, players and parents must accept a high level of commitment to their team, typically playing and practicing a total of five days per week. Interlock games and tournaments are the primary source of competition. During games and tournaments, scores are kept and pitches are counted. Parents of Major Division players need to be involved in Field PrepScorekeeping, and Pitch Counting. Please see our Game Rules page for more information on Interlock Rules for this division.
Age10 to 12-year-olds (based on LL Baseball Age and a player assessment by coaches in February or early March)
Any Minor Division players who want to play-up at the Major level are also assessed by coaches in February or early March. Please note that placement in the Major Division is best suited for players with a reasonable base skill level to ensure their safety and competitiveness. During Assessments, we consider age, playing experience, safety, commitment, and anticipated playing time. It may be determined that some players are best rostered in a Minor Division team that is matched to their skill level to ensure they enjoy a safe and rewarding season. Players who are or will soon be 12 years old, and who are newer to the sport, may want to consider the Diamondsides U13 ‘house’ division team.
LocationPractices and home games are usually held at Justin Morneau Field in Moody Park. Away games and tournaments occur at many locations throughout Metro Vancouver.

Call-UpsIf a Majors team has less than 10 players available for a game, they may call up a player from the Minor Division. The Player Agent will provide the Major Division coaches with a call up list of Minor Division players who may be called up to the Majors Division. When possible, please contact the player’s coach to organize the call-up. However, if it is a last minute call up, you may contact the player directly. A Majors team may only use the same call-up player 2 times during the season. The Major Division Coordinator must be notified whenever a call-up player is used.
Season DurationThe regular Spring Season for the Major Division typically runs from early April to early July.
Additional PlayAll Major Division players will be invited to try out for the Majors “All-Stars Team” to represent New West at the District 6 Majors All-Stars tournament, in late June to early July. The winner of that tournament advances to the BC Provincials in July, Canadian Regional Championship in late July to early August, and possibly the Little League World Series in August.
NWBA also typically offers Fall Ball opportunities in September and October and Winter Training programs in November to mid-December and in January to mid-March, for all Major Division players who are interested. Registration for “post-season” programs is separate from registration for the regular Spring Season program. Post-season programming is dependent on sufficient registration and parent volunteer (coach) availability.
