National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP)
NWBA aims to ensure a high level of coaching quality for our players. NWBA therefore recommends National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) certification for all of its coaches. The NCCP is a collaborative program of the Government of Canada, the provincial/territorial governments, national/provincial/territorial sport federations, and the Coaching Association of Canada. The NCCP was designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of coaches, including those who introduce youngsters to sport. The NCCP prepares coaches to:
- better meet the needs of all participants in sport
- provide a positive sport experience for participants
- provide opportunities for participants to achieve their full potential in and through sport
Information about the coaching clinics can be found on the Baseball BC website or you can contact our Coach Development Coordinator.
NWBA will reimburse coaches 100% of the fees, once they have completed their coaching clinic.
Coaching Association of Canada’s Safe Sport Training
NWBA also aims to create a safe and inclusive sport environment for all our players. To that end, each NWBA coach should complete the Coaching Association of Canada’s Safe Sport Training module to ensure the protection of all our Little League athletes. Safe Sport Training was developed to promote physical, psychological, and social health, in line with the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport. This 90 -minute online training program is compliant with accessibility standards, and also provides professional development points for certified coaches.
Jumpstart Keeping Girls in Sport
Keeping Girls in Sport is an online resource that helps coaches to create safe and respectful environments for female athletes. This resource was developed in partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada, Canadian Women & Sport, and Respect Group Inc, to help ensure that girls stay enrolled and engaged in sports and physical activity. Completion of this program also provides professional development points toward maintenance of NCCP certification.

Jumpstart Coaching Kids of All Abilities
Coaching Kids of All Abilities is an online resource that helps coaches create inclusive sporting environments for kids of all abilities. This resource was developed in partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada, Active Living Alliance for Canadians with a Disability, Canucks Autism Network, Défi Sportif AlterGo, and Sport for Life.
