A highlight of the spring & summer seasons: Tournaments!

New West Little League typically runs three tournaments during the spring season, one per division from Rookie Divison and up, usually in May. Little League teams from District 6 and other neighbouring Little League teams join us at Moody Park diamonds for 2 to 4 consecutive days of games per tournament for the Minor and Major divisions. This year, we will be following a more simplified format for our Rookie tournament in May, keeping it in-house.

T-Ball families are encouraged to come out to these tournaments to cheer on the big kids! In late June, T-Ball players get a chance to be part of the action at the District 6 T-Ball Jamboree.

New West Little League also hosts and participates in other leagues’ All-Stars tournaments in June and July, as well as the District 6 Tournaments. The winner of the D6 Minor Tournament advances to the LL BC Provincial Championships. Meanwhile, the winner of the D6 Major Tournament also advances to the LL BC Provincial Championships, and then potentially to the LL Canada Regional Championships. The winner of the Regionals advances to the LL World Series in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, USA.

Have a look at our Hall of Champions page to see some of our teams’ great accomplishments at various tournaments over the years!

Remember that our tournaments depend on having many volunteers to make them happen. All NWBA families are expected to volunteer for at least TWO 3-hour shifts during our NWBA Spring Events and Tournaments (or at least ONE 3-hour shift for families of T-Ball players) to satisfy their league-level volunteering commitment unless their family paid the Volunteer Buy Out upfront at the time of registration. Please see our Parent Volunteer Roles page or contact our Volunteer Coordinator to find out how you can help! 🙂

Justin Morneau Minors Tournament

Named after our baseball “Home Town Hero,” former New West resident and MLB player Justin Morneau, this tournament usually takes place in early May. Players must be from their league’s Minor division to participate.

The 2025 Justin Morneau Minors Tournament will take place on May 10 & 11, 2025.

NWBA Rookie Tournament

This tournament is for players in their league’s Rookie division, and has historically occurred during the Victoria Day long weekend in May. For many players, this will be their first ever tournament experience!

We are trying a different format for this tournament this year. The 2025 NWBA Rookie Tournament will be in-house–i.e., just for NWBA Rookie Division players. It will take place on May 31 & June 1, 2025.

Hyack Majors Tournament & Home Run Derby

An annual NWBA event since 1965, this tournament takes place during New West’s Hyack Festival, in late May. Participants must be a member of their league’s Major division (house) team. Player ages are 9-12, 10-12, or 11-12 (dependent on the format of their league’s Majors program).

The 2025 Hyack Majors Tournament will take place from May 22 to May 25, 2025.

District 6 T-Ball Jamboree

Players from T-Ball 2 may be selected to play in the District 6 T-Ball Jamboree, held at the end of June.

District 6 Minor (9/10s) All-Stars Tournament

All Minor Division players will be invited in May to try out for the coach-selected competitive Minor “All-Stars Team.” This team will represent New West at the District 6 Minor (9/10s) All-Star tournament in July. The winner of that tournament advances to the BC Provincials in late July.
